Welcome to the Cabrillo Cardiology Family!

Much of the history of Cardiology in Ventura County has been written by Cabrillo Cardiology. Here are a few of our accomplishments:

1. Dr. Ray Ligouri, the founder of Cabrillo Cardiology, was the first boarded cardiologist in Ventura County.
2. We founded the 3rd dedicated CCU in all of Southern California. Long before UCLA or Cedars Sinai even had a CCU, we founded a dedicated CCU at St Johns Regional Medical Center.
3. We initiated the 3rd 12 lead treadmill testing lab in all of Southern California. We even shared and demonstrated this to UCLA!
4. We performed the first coronary atherectomy and implanted the first coronary stents in Ventura County, ushering in the era of modern coronary angioplasty!
5. We performed the first exercise echocardiograms in Ventura County advancing the art of cardiac stress testing.
6. We have been at the forefront of nuclear and ultrasound imaging of the heart.
7. We have been at the forefront of pacemaker, defibrillator, and arrhythmia management.
8. All of the CCU Directors, most of the Cardiology Cath Lab Directors, and many of the Chiefs of Internal Medicine and Medical Staff Directors at St Johns Regional Medical Center have come from Cabrillo Cardiology.
9. Our efforts have contributed in a significant way to Healthgrades 2023 Ranking St Johns to be

Number 1 in all of California for Interventional Cardiology and Number 2 in all of California for Cardiology and CCU care

But our proudest accomplishment is reflected by the numerous holiday cards we receive every year with the realization that tens of thousands of people have been able to enjoy holidays and special events with their families because of the efforts and dedication of the Cabrillo Family.
